Gunster, one of Florida's oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Alberto Jose Torres has joined the firm's Real Estate practice in Miami as a Senior Planner. With more than four decades of experience spanning senior roles in both the public and private sectors, Torres advises clients on complex land use, zoning, and entitlement matters throughout Miami-Dade County and South Florida.
Prior to joining Gunster, Torres spent nearly 18 years as a senior land use consultant at a nationally recognized, Am Law-ranked law firm in Miami, advising on entitlement strategies for large-scale residential, mixed-use, commercial, and industrial developments. Before entering private practice, he served as Assistant Director and Zoning Official for Miami-Dade County, where he directed countywide zoning operations, drafted land use ordinances, and advised the Board of County Commissioners.
Torres holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Florida International University, a Master of Management and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and has completed executive education at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is a Florida Registered Paralegal and a member of the American Planning Association.
