Press Release

Gunster Attorney Cameron KynesGunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Cameron G. Kynes has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Jacksonville office, marking the addition of the firm’s first labor and employment attorney in the market and further strengthening its ability to serve clients amid continued business growth in Northeast Florida and across the state.

Kynes represents employers in a wide range of workplace matters, helping companies anticipate, manage, and resolve issues before they escalate into disputes. He defends clients in single-plaintiff claims, complex multiparty cases, collective actions, and class actions in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies and in arbitration. Kynes also counsels employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including the FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA, NLRA, and Title VII.

His practice includes defending claims involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage-and-hour issues, as well as handling disputes involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and related business torts. He has significant experience seeking and opposing emergency injunctive relief in noncompete and nonsolicitation matters and advising employers on strategies to protect their business interests.

He has successfully represented clients across a range of industries, including securing favorable outcomes in high-exposure employment litigation, defeating class certification in complex wage-and-hour matters, and obtaining injunctive relief in restrictive covenant disputes. Known for his strategic and forward-thinking approach, Kynes also leverages technology, including AI-driven tools, to streamline processes and optimize results for clients.

“Cameron’s arrival marks an important step in expanding our capabilities in Jacksonville as the region continues to grow and our clients face increasingly complex workplace challenges,” said Brian McPherson, leader of Gunster's Labor and Employment law practice. “His practical, business-minded approach and deep experience handling labor and employment matters strengthen our ability to support clients locally while delivering the high-level service they enjoy from Gunster statewide.”

Kynes brings a well-rounded perspective shaped by experience in private practice, in-house secondments, and a federal appellate clerkship. Previously, he clerked for the Honorable Gregory A. Phillips of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and also practiced in the Washington, D.C. office of an international law firm. He approaches matters with a focus on aligning legal strategy with business objectives, helping clients evaluate risk, control costs, and achieve efficient outcomes.

Kynes earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the managing board of the Journal of Law and Politics, and his B.A., magna cum laude, in history from the University of Florida.
