A federal jury recently ruled that the Village of Pinecrest violated the civil rights of developer Megladon, finding the municipality liable for what was characterized as a "land grab." The landmark verdict, secured by Gunster's litigation team led by Amy Brigham Boulris and Tim McGinn, concluded that Pinecrest had unlawfully interfered with the developer's property rights. The case drew significant attention across South Florida's real estate and legal communities, underscoring the constitutional protections afforded to property owners and developers against governmental overreach.
“This is a major victory for property owners across Florida," said McGinn. “Hopefully this will send a message to not just the village of Pinecrest, but other municipalities, that you can’t do this.”
