Daily Business Review, Law360 and South Florida Business Journal published articles detailing the merger that Gunster completed on April 1, 2025 with South Florida-based boutique Katz Barron. With this merger, Gunster now has 13 networked statewide offices, including two in the Miami region, and more than 330 attorneys and lobbyists.
Katz Barron's 14-attorney team brings expertise to bolster Gunster's existing business litigation, corporate, private wealth services, and real estate capabilities. "From our perspective, it's an opportunity to join a premier firm in the state of Florida and continue in those core practice areas and to allow our clients to get the benefit of working with other Gunster attorneys in other practice areas," Shareholder Matt Katz explained.
The merger is also a strategic move positioned to grow Gunster's South Florida presence. "The Gunster strategy overall has been to identify firms in certain markets that lend themselves to potentially joining forces with us and Katz Barron was just ideal for that," expressed Gunster's Miami Office Managing Shareholder Mario Garcia-Serra.
