Overview
Giannina E. (“Gia”) Smith is an attorney in Gunster’s Private Wealth Services practice group, where she focuses on estate planning, wealth transfer planning, trust and estate administration, and related tax matters. Her practice centers on designing and implementing comprehensive estate plans tailored to each client’s personal objectives, family dynamics, and long-term goals. Gia also advises clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, including techniques designed to minimize federal gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
With a background in accounting and advanced tax training, Gia combines technical knowledge with a practical, detail-oriented approach. She is committed to helping clients navigate complex planning matters with clarity and confidence while delivering responsive, personalized service.
Gia earned both her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she served as a Research Editor for the Florida Law Review. During law school, she received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Tax Policy and Multistate Bar Topics and earned Book Awards in Legal Writing, Legal Research, and Legal Drafting. Gia received her B.S. in Accounting from Florida State University.
