Nicolas J. Cathcart

Overview

Nicolas J. Cathcart is a business litigator who represents clients in complex commercial disputes and appellate matters. Nicolas handles matters throughout the litigation process, including case assessment and strategy, legal research, pleadings and dispositive motions, trial preparation, trial, and appellate proceedings.

Nicolas brings a perspective informed by experience in both private practice and judicial chambers. Nicolas started his legal career at Gunster, working on civil and appellate matters. He then served as a judicial clerk for two years, first with the Hon. John D. Couriel of the Supreme Court of Florida and second with the Hon. Aileen M. Cannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. These experiences provide Nicolas with insight into how judges evaluate legal arguments, identify dispositive issues, and approach complex cases, which he applies when developing litigation strategy and presenting arguments on behalf of his clients.

Nicolas graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was an Articles Editor for the Florida Law Review and External Vice President of the Florida Moot Court Team. He graduated summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and reading Sherlock Holmes.
