Gunster Attorney Alex Chase

Overview

Drawing on over 16 years of courtroom and investigative experience as a federal prosecutor, Alexandra Chase helps clients resolve high-stakes and complex business disputes and white collar cases. She conducts internal investigations and represents clients in federal and state courts and before regulators.

Before joining Gunster, she worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, most recently as a Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida. In that role, she held senior leadership positions, including Chief of Financial Crimes and Acting Managing U.S. Attorney, advising prosecutors, reviewing and approving charging decisions and overseeing legal teams while continuing to serve as a line prosecutor. Her experience spans leading a wide variety of complex investigations and prosecutions, with particular depth in fraud matters, including healthcare fraud, as well as financial crimes, narcotics and other high-exposure cases.

Earlier in her career, she prosecuted major drug trafficking and money laundering organizations under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program in the Eastern District of Tennessee and clerked for the Honorable Thomas W. Phillips.

Alex is experienced in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, handling all aspects of trials and appeals, responding to subpoenas and presenting evidence at grand jury proceedings, government hearings and court.

Alex’s government experience gives her a distinct advantage in business litigation. She approaches disputes with an investigator’s eye, a trial lawyer’s discipline and a strategic mindset honed by years of evaluating evidence and risk and resolving complicated, high-impact cases. Clients benefit from her ability to anticipate opposing arguments, navigate complicated fact patterns, translate complex concepts for judges and juries and mitigate damages. Incisive and decisive, Alex devises persuasive strategies and delivers compelling arguments designed to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively, whether through motion practice, negotiation or at trial.
